Students walking the Sandwalk at Down HouseTo explore Darwin's tool bag that he used for "geologising" while on the Beagle or on various trips during his university days, see this great interactive, Tools of the Trade, created by the Sedgewick Museum of Earth Sciences in Cambridge.

When he got back to England, Darwin soon settled at Down House and never left the country again. He simply observed the countryside around Downe. You can do so online, using the Darwin's Landscape Laboratory website developed by the London Borough of Bromley. Look at an interactive satellite image of Downe and the surrounding area, or 360 degree panoramas of significant sites in Darwin's work in and around Downe.

Nature Explorers was developed for Kent County Council's Canterbury Environmental Education Centre and gives pupils the chance to explore the types of plants and animals found in different habitats.
